G-SERIES PRO CHALLENGE: DWYANE WADE

As it prepared to launch its G-Series Pro line of hydration, performance, and recovery products, Gatorade was looking for a catchy way to get some viral traction. The solution? The ol' tried and true "undercover superstar" trick. We developed a series of concepts, situations, and one-liners for Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade to perform under the guise of "Gordon", during a brief, one-day employment stint at a Dick's Sporting Goods store in suburban Chicago. The resulting compilation racked up hundreds of thousands of views and shares within days, giving the product launch that added boost it was looking for. (Developed with PMK*BNC)

REVENUE ACQUISITION MANAGEMENT PRODUCT VIDEO

Marin, creator of the world's leading cross-channel advertising platform, was looking for a way to increase B2B awareness for its robust Revenue Acquisition Management software suite. This meant explaining a highly complex subject in terms that were light on technical jargon and heavy on language that's meaningful to marketers. To sidestep the pitfalls of overly dry, corporate marketing-speak, we adopted a deliberately light-hearted, approachable tone that would entice forward-thinking advertisers to warm up to Marin's revolutionary new way of maximizing revenue. BJ'S BREWHOUSE & RESTAURANT

PINT CLASS VIDEO SERIES

 

Despite its rapid growth, casual dining chain BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse continues to differentiate itself from competitors with a wide selection of quality handcrafted beers. Keeping its beer front and center is a mainstay of all its marketing communication -- and education is a major component of this. "Pint Class" comprises a series of online videos aimed at beer lovers, not beer snobs. Each episode is dedicated to a different one of BJ's revolving catalog of seasonal brews, and each demonstrates the care and artistry that goes into creating every pour. "THE BIG PRESENTATION" ONLINE VIDEO

Google sought to create video content that would spotlight the power of its (at the time) lesser known Adwords product. The key to this effort lay in using simple, human-centered storytelling techniques to showcase Adwords' overall capabilities and, just as importantly, its efficient and natural interaction with the entire Google ecosystem of products, from calendars to hangouts, etc. Since Adwords is a marketing tool, it only made sense to put a marketer at the center of our story... but with a universally relatable twist. (Developed with Whirled)

 

UCLA ANDERSON SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT

COMMENCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO

 

UCLA's prestigious Anderson School of Management was looking to generate some excitement around its upcoming commencement ceremonies. But, when students' sights have already shifted to their imminent post-MBA banking jobs, that can be easier said than done. We were working with two fixed ingredients: a legacy tagline "Think In The Next", and a kick-ass commencement speaker, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki. What we created was less an announcement and more of a battle cry, exploring the meaning of "think in the next" in terms graduate students could understand: namely, starting small and swinging for the fences. FOUNDERS VIDEO

Google's venture capital arm wanted to create a sizzle video to help celebrate some of the (literally) world-changing innovations it has helped fund. Utilizing a series of documentary-style techniques, I helped the production craft a narrative through line for the video via extensive involvement, ranging from shaping interview questions to sifting through footage and transcripts. Ultimately, we emerged with a story that was common to each of all founders, one that was fueled by inspiration... and funded by Google. (Developed with Whirled)
